On May 14, 2026, the Third International Financial Forum, titled “Modern Finance: National Resilience, Security, and Innovative Leadership,” was held at the Western Ukrainian National University in Ternopil as part of the university’s 60th-anniversary celebrations.
Valerii Zhuk, Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Accounting and Finance of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences (NAAS), Doctor of Economics, Professor, and Academician of the NAAS, took an active part in the forum, particularly in the Discussion Platform “Accounting and Analytical Content of the Transformation of the Financial Space in the Context of External Threats and Internal Challenges.”
During the discussion, Valerii Zhuk joined the discussion on higher education standards for the D1 specialty “Accounting and Taxation.” In his speech, he highlighted the problem of overburdened educational standards, as well as the risks of attracting students amid the implementation in Ukraine of pro-European approaches to professional education for accountants under the purview of the National Agency for Qualifications of Ukraine.
Separately, Valerii Zhuk drew his colleagues’ attention to problematic aspects of the further development of accounting science and education, particularly the narrow, technical interpretation of its subject matter (primarily as a reflection of business transactions). In his view, this approach creates the risk that representatives of other academic fields will perceive accounting not as a science, but merely as a technique and a set of tools.
We sincerely thank the forum organizers for the high quality of the event, the professional academic discussion, and for creating a space to exchange views on pressing issues in the development of finance, accounting, analytics, and education in the face of today’s challenges. We wish you continued academic success, new professional achievements, and fruitful collaboration!
